Oxygen (O₂) is a colourless, odourless gas that supports combustion and oxidation, making it indispensable across heavy industry. International Industrial Gases Ltd manufactures industrial oxygen by the cryogenic distillation of air in our air-separation plants, then supplies it as compressed gas in cylinders and cylinder banks, or as liquid oxygen (LOX) delivered by insulated road tankers and stored in vacuum-insulated tanks.
In metal fabrication, oxygen mixed with acetylene or LPG produces the high-temperature flame used for oxy-fuel cutting, welding and brazing. In steelmaking, oxygen lancing and enrichment raise furnace efficiency in both basic-oxygen and electric-arc routes.
