Carbide-to-water and water-to-carbide generators
An acetylene generator reacts calcium carbide with water to release acetylene gas, which is then cooled, purified, dried and compressed. IIGAS builds both carbide-to-water and water-to-carbide generator designs, in low- and medium-pressure configurations, sized from compact units to high-capacity industrial generators.
Because we manufacture the generators and run them ourselves to fill dissolved-acetylene (DA) cylinders, every unit is designed around real-world gas yield, carbide consumption, sludge handling and safety — not theory.
What an IIGAS acetylene generator includes
- ✓Generator shell, carbide hopper / charging gear and reaction chamber
- ✓Automatic water control to hold reaction temperature and pressure in safe limits
- ✓Gas holder / bell, hydraulic back-pressure valve and flame/flashback arrestors
- ✓Carbide-lime (sludge) settling and removal system
- ✓Pressure relief, temperature interlocks and decomposition-prevention safety
- ✓Integration with purification, drying, compression and DA cylinder filling
Engineered for safety and gas quality
Acetylene demands uncompromising safety engineering. Our generators are built to NFPA, CGA, EIGA and Indian Standards, with correctly specified pressure limits, hydraulic back-pressure valves and arrestors to contain and prevent acetylene decomposition. IIGAS contributes to the Bureau of Indian Standards committees CHD 6 (Industrial Gases) and MED 16 (Gas Cylinders).
Whether you need a single generator, a replacement unit, or a complete acetylene plant around it, we size and supply it to your output — and back it with spares, service and operator training.
