Hazard identification (GHS)

  • Contains gas under pressure; may explode if heated (H280).
  • Supports combustion (contains oxygen); high-pressure jet can injure skin and eyes.

First-aid measures

Compressed air is normal breathing composition; hazards arise from pressure. For high-pressure injection injuries or eye impact, seek medical attention immediately.

Handling & storage

  • Never use compressed air to clean skin or clothing; a high-pressure jet can cause serious injury.
  • Store cylinders upright, capped, below 52 °C; keep valves clean and open slowly.
  • Because air contains oxygen, keep oil and grease off high-pressure fittings.
